“British people will not be cowed”

It was a very sad day for me to hear about terrorists hitting my homeland, ground that I’ve walked upon, streets I have walked down, buses which create nostalgia that there is no other place on the earth like London. Tony Blair’s comment hit me hard and I could understand his frustrations. It reminded me [...]

Thought you knew your keister?

It’s been a long time coming… and a 12 mile bike ride reintroduced me to my keister. Gary Grubb challenged me to a 6 mile uphill onslaught up the City Creek canyon, but this was no sight seeing adventure! (well not for me anyway). It took me 58 minutes to reach the top (Gary’s time [...]

Drawing online

Want to have some fun? Check out this URL: http://web.okaygo.co.uk/apps/scratchpad/flashcom/ This is a fun example of the Flash Communication Server which I’m playing around with right now.

Website hosting

Please don’t use Godaddy.com to host your websites. I’ve just been through the ringer to try to get the scottishmissionary.org site ready with no luck. Instead I switched to dot5hosting.com who seem to have their act together (more than godaddy) So far so good – I’ll let you know what happens….

Good Java put to use

Looking for a great, free, mapping service? Look no further than map24.com I was really impressed by the speed and detail of the maps. I was able to zoom right into my local neiborhood and even to my parents neighbourhood (in England) with exact road detail. Very impressive and a good use of the JAVA [...]

Do you trust the Postal Service?

December 2004, 10 days before Christmas, we send off a few packages to my parents who live in England. Almost 4 months later the packages finally arrive! We’ve been burnt by postal issues before but this is the last straw. This Christmas we’ll be sending gift vouchers! Thanks to the internet we can now buy [...]

Time to refinance?

Watch out for refinance deals. Yes – you could save a whole bunch of money per month if you refinance to 30 years – but you’ll end up paying more in the long run. It is much better to pay a larger monthly payment (as much as you can afford) over a shorter period than [...]

Grandpa Roberts passes away

Earl Roberts (89) died Friday March 11th 2005 at his home in Pleasant Grove with his beloved wife at his side. He passed quickly and painlessly and will be missed by all who came to love him. His funeral will be held at the Manilla stake center Wednesday at 11:00 am. Funeral services will be [...]

Mottoes

For some reason I was thinking about Mottoes this morning, dictionary.com define a motto as: 1. A brief statement used to express a principle, goal, or ideal. See Synonyms at saying. 2. A sentence, phrase, or word of appropriate character inscribed on or attached to an object. 3. A maxim adopted as a guide to [...]

GPS Driving

We’ve just had the pleasure of having our friends over from England (Jim, Loz and their son Noah). They flew into Florida and drove all the way here in about 2 weeks, driving over 3,200 miles. What amazes me was the precision of their journey due to a TomTom gps navigation system, which Jim hooked [...]
