Investing in stock: Ideas
I thought I’d put together a post about some different investing strategies that aren’t commonly thought about, which may be valuable source for somebody out there in the internet land! Please feel free to share your investing ideas.
1 – For Dividend paying stock only. Find out the ex-div date. The Stock will open up lower (traditionally the amount of the dividend paid out). On the ex-div date, If the stock heads north – go LONG, else if it heads south – go SHORT.
2 – Also for dividend paying stocks: Buy into the stock at least 2 weeks prior to the ex-div date. SELL 1 day before the ex-div date.
3 – When the market opens, look for stock with a lower than previous days closing that is heading either north or south. This idea mirrors idea #1.
4 – FEAR breeds selling! What’s the biggest fear driven report in your local newspaper! Betcha the stock falls like a rock. Good time to go short. Likewise if this is a commodity – like food / gas etc… good time to go long into a commodity.
