“The Ghostman” by Scott McMurray Aged 8

When Toby and I got home from school, we saw Fiona was crying. We asked her why. She said, “Fall me”, which means in baby talk follow me. She led us up in her room, pointed at her closet and said, “GHOST MAN!” and ran to hide. I didn’t get what she meant. So I opened the closet but there was nothing there only a few footprints leading under her dresser. They looked like ghostman’s feet.
I haven’t explained ghostman to you yet. He is on a show that gave me nightmares. He is a dead ghost with feet. I didn’t know if he was real or just someone dressed up trying to scare us.
When my mom got home, we got ready for bed but when I was going to get a drink I heard something coming down the stairs. I froze, I hid in a corner, I peeked at the stairs and saw a white ghost with feet. Now I believed Fiona. The ghostman looked at me. I froze I did not move a muscle. He ran over to me, picked me up, ran up stairs, ran into Fiona’s room and lifted up the dresser. I saw a trapdoor. “NO!” I yelled. I woke up, it was just a dream, phew!
That was a nightmare but the dream told me something. There was a trapdoor under Fiona’s dresser. The next thing I knew I was in pitch black. I saw ghostman. I ran over to him, started beating him up. I ripped of his mask. Do you know what I saw? Toby. I was so mad at him I said, “I’m going to tell mom in the morning.”
From that day on Toby learned his lesson.

The End.
