Insights into our crazy world!

“British people will not be cowed”

It was a very sad day for me to hear about terrorists hitting my homeland, ground that I’ve walked upon, streets I have walked down, buses which create nostalgia that there is no other place on the earth like London.

Tony Blair’s comment hit me hard and I could understand his frustrations. It reminded me of my Broomhill School days and my one to one meeting with my Head Mistress (Miss Lowe). I was picking on an 8 year old boy and I thought I was being cool! I was a crazy 11 year old and I loved doing it!! I don’t know why – but I’m glad I went through the grilling that Miss Lowe made me stand through. It taught me a very important lesson that day to no be a bully. Looking back I hold that memory with high regard and appreciate the time which she took to chastise me. It certainly changed my life, that day. But seeing Tony’s face I could see the disappointment in his eyes, the same which Miss Lowe also shared with me. But there was something more, a determination to put right was was wrong, but with earnest vigor. What a reminder that was.

The Conservative party addressed the House of Commons sometime after the bombings and this is my favorite quote which raises my British Pride…

"Britain has long experience of terrorism. We have joined together to fight it in the past. Today, we do so again. For now, the terrorism that walks the streets of London has no face. But whatever its origin, whatever its motive, our response is the same: the British people will not be cowed and the terrorists will not win."

It is my opinion that these terrorist have no idea who they’re playing with….. Londoners have put up with a whole lot mor terror than anywhere else in the world (over the longest time) The Blitz of WWII, the IRA and now on with the Islamic Extremists. The Queen even said:

"They will not change our way of life”

She has certainly been a great exampler to Britains in times of tribulation. What a fantastic person she is (and this is coming from a non-royal).

The main thing to say is – that this horrific act has done nothing more than firmed the foundation of the British resolve to not give in to these threats. That’s yet another reason why I’m proud to be British.
