Just call me Coach!!

I was asked to coach Scott’s soccer team for the Spring season, which I’m actually looking forward to. I only hope that I can fit the shoes of a coasch and help these children enjoy soccer.
I’m really happy that I get to cover the FIFA rules (since I haven’t watched a soccer match for over 9 years!) I kind of need a refresher course ;)
My brother, David, would do a great job – but I don’t know about me…. I’ll keep you informed

Our 1st practice went very well. Everybody on my team can at least kick to ball straight and hard. I have a fine group of children to mold.
Now it’s time to read up in the official FIFA rules … can’t remember if it’s 3 or 4 steps back from a free kick…

We won our 1st match, 3v2. It was a close game and my kids were getting pretty tired towards the end, but we managed to win the Eagles.
    Way to go TEAM :)

We just won our 3rd match. Undefeated so far :)
Scott it still to score a goal, he almost scored 2 today though.

The season is over. We lost 1 match and had a fun time.
Scott didn’t score a goal, but he played with a lot of other children which I hope will inspire him to play more.
The season ended just in time as my hayfever started up just before our last game. Phew.
I honestly believe that you should learn at least one thing from what you do, for me I lerned that I need to let children have fun and not be so competitive, especially at this early age. I think I was too strong and was more demanding then what these children we ready to put out. We did uncover some great soccer stars though.
Lindi shone as a great goalie,
Isaac will be a great forward,
Ethan will become an even better defender.
Maggie really got into it (she was our smallest player) but on the field she charged with the ball more than any other.
Marrisa will also develop into a great forward,
Brielle shows promise for a goalie too.
Dominique has great strength and power, I think one more season will help him become a great forward.
Mackenzey is quick with the ball and has a very strong kick.
Maizen, Alex, Kaigan and Scott will shine better next season (as they were the youngest on the team).
As for me – I’m going to try and take it easier and be nicer too.
