Website hosting

Please don’t use Godaddy.com to host your websites. I’ve just been through the ringer to try to get the scottishmissionary.org site ready with no luck. Instead I switched to dot5hosting.com who seem to have their act together (more than godaddy) So far so good – I’ll let you know what happens….

Good Java put to use

Looking for a great, free, mapping service? Look no further than map24.com I was really impressed by the speed and detail of the maps. I was able to zoom right into my local neiborhood and even to my parents neighbourhood (in England) with exact road detail. Very impressive and a good use of the JAVA [...]

Do you trust the Postal Service?

December 2004, 10 days before Christmas, we send off a few packages to my parents who live in England. Almost 4 months later the packages finally arrive! We’ve been burnt by postal issues before but this is the last straw. This Christmas we’ll be sending gift vouchers! Thanks to the internet we can now buy [...]

Just call me Coach!!

I was asked to coach Scott’s soccer team for the Spring season, which I’m actually looking forward to. I only hope that I can fit the shoes of a coasch and help these children enjoy soccer. I’m really happy that I get to cover the FIFA rules (since I haven’t watched a soccer match for [...]

Kristy turns 31

Today Kristy turns the same age as me – 31. For a few short months we share the same age. Kristy’s Dad (Robert) will be 65 on the 21st, so Kristy thought it would be a wonderful surprise to do something special for her Dad on his 65th. She organised an entire party and keep [...]

Time to refinance?

Watch out for refinance deals. Yes – you could save a whole bunch of money per month if you refinance to 30 years – but you’ll end up paying more in the long run. It is much better to pay a larger monthly payment (as much as you can afford) over a shorter period than [...]

Grandpa Roberts passes away

Earl Roberts (89) died Friday March 11th 2005 at his home in Pleasant Grove with his beloved wife at his side. He passed quickly and painlessly and will be missed by all who came to love him. His funeral will be held at the Manilla stake center Wednesday at 11:00 am. Funeral services will be [...]

The great escape

T’was a beautiful day in Eagle Mountain, the sun was out and all the birds we singing, especially Cassy (Scott’s yellow budgie). I thought she might like to be outside and enjoy the company of the other birds feeding in our yard. So out she went and out I went… Well the wind got windier [...]

Plaster of Paris

I can finally bury the hatchet on a question I’ve had for years…. Why do they call is Plaster of Paris? Wine isn’t the only good thing to come out of France! Did you know that after the great fire of London in 1666, the King of France ordered every house to use Calcinated Gypsum [...]

Great Horned Owl

Made an appearance in our back yard last night. I retired to my bed about 11:20 and the moment I turned the light off – I heard this distinct owl call. I peeped out of the blinds to see if I could find this stealthy creature – but to no avail. I work with a [...]
