My opinion is that spyware writers and spyware protectors share the same fridge!
There’s always a new spy program which is disguised as a cool screen saver or the most commonly used ‘quick’ search bar, to which normal computer users do not see as possible malicious code.
I was able to help a friend of the family out today and realised yet again how trusting a normal PC user is to messages from web pages which tell them their computers will be much faster / cooler if they download this certain tool. But more importantly how naive these users are. Not that it is their fault at all, they simply want to use their computer as a portal to the Internet, without all the hassle.
There has to be a better, more appropriate solution for people like this.
