Charity Time
We’ve just had our Federal CFC event (Giving to Charity through your paycheck).
It’s a great program and I’m happy to contribute to the charities that I think need it most. Of course, my charites of choice are close to my heart right now – especially those who try to make the life of Children easier. Especially Feed the Children & St Judes Childrens Hospital. Our local Hospital here ‘Primary Childrens’ also got some of my by-weekly deduction.
Not a lot of LDS Utahns give to charity as they see parts of their tithing go to these charities. This case is true – but It warms my heart to know that I’ve given to the charity of my choice.
So if you’re LDS, from Utah and hide behind the tithing way of giving to charity – shame on you! Tithing is 10% of which you are expected to pay. This is not money for Charity, but your requirement. Sure some tithing money is used for charity – for example the American Red Cross just received 4 million dollars to help vacinate children in Africa (donated by the LDS church) but did the money come from tithing or church investments? I know you’d like to think it came from tithing – but it doesn’t always. Yes – the LDS church is a big time investor.
Only 4% of LDS Utahns give to Charity! Ouch – Shame on us.
